Disney has done it again and brought back one of my childhood favorites with an added new twist. Disney Pete’s Dragon 2016 was released in the theaters in August 2016 as well on DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS. I loved this movie as a child in the 70’s, then when my son Noah was growing up he loved it! I had it on VHS and he’d watch it over and over again. So you can imagine how excited I was when I heard Disney remastered it. I can’t wait to share this childhood favorite with my granddaughters.
I am so thrilled to have received a special Pete’s Dragon Promo Kit, which included the newly remastered Disney’s Pete’s Dragon, Elliot Gets Lost the book featured in the movie, and an adorable stuffed Pete’s Dragon.

More about Disney Pete’s Dragon
Just like the 1977 Pete’s Dragon the story follows a boy and his friendly dragon as they search for a loving home. The remake opens with 5-year-old Pete (Oakes Fegley) on a family road trip. Suddenly their car crashes and both his parents are killed. Leaving Pete stranded in the forest. Soon afterwards Pete befriends Elliott, a furry, friendly dragon that can also turn invisible.
The two live together happily in the wild for six years. Then one day, forest ranger Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), lumber worker Jack (Wes Bentley) and daughter Natalie (Oona Laurence) discover Pete in the woods and bring him into town. The story continues as Pete tells folks in town about the dragon, and they try to capture him etc.
The movie features a great story book called Elliot Gets Lost. In which you’ll notice Pete reading it prior to the car accident. The movie has a folklore touch to it, and brought back childhood memories. My medium daughter and youngest son loved watching the original Pete’s Dragon. I can’t wait for them to see the new Disney version.
I have read mixed reviews on Disneys Pete’s Dragon 2016 Remake, but for me it was a little of my lost childhood brought back to life.
