Crafting with Kids – Butterfly Creation by Elizabeth

Elizabeth and I spend a lot of time together. While everyone is at school and work she and I are cleaning, shopping, learning and crafting together. The other day while I was making my Keep Calm and Craft On sign, she was grabbing up the scraps and asking to craft. I love seeing her creations, plus I knew it would be perfect addition to my crafting with kids series. We will call this one Crafting with Kids – Butterfly Creation by Elizabeth.

It’s so cute because she carries in their princess table and chair, and sets them up right beside me. She always asks for glue and glitter and sometimes paint. I almost always agree to the glue, but the glitter and paint aren’t something we use a lot of. She sits at the table and starts to glue things here and there. She loves to sing while she crafts, it’s so darn cute! Also see the chair and where she’s sitting? She almost never uses the chair. I think it’s because she always wants to put the chair on the side she’s sitting, and there isn’t room for both of us.

As you can see from the picture she’s got everything she could possibly need. Scissors, markers, glue, scrap papers and even a baby wipe to clean her little fingers. If you look closely on the Highlight book there is a picture she drew. Well it’s of me in stages from a baby to a grandma. It’s adorable! Did I mention how much I love this little girl?

I guess this is where she gets serious because she decides she needs to stand up for this part. But I bet her little feet were hurting from sitting on them. *smiles* silly girl wouldn’t use her chair. Her masterpiece is starting to take shape now.

it’s a masterpiece!

She’s added the head and the little wings, but then it takes a whole other turn. She finds a sparkly piece of scrap paper and thinks it’s a perfect dolphin tail. So now we have a Butterfly and Dolphin creation. She’s got one heck of an imagination that’s for sure. She even drew a cute little face on it. But she’s not done yet!

Of course a butterfly dolphin had to have antennas! So with a little bit of my help we cut two out of the silver cardstock, and attached them to the butterfly dolphin. She then said it was finished and it was mine to keep.

This project took her a good 45 mins from start to finish to make her Butterfly – Dolphin. I find it amazing at how when she really wants to do something she gives it her full attention.

I always know when she’s bored because she gets squirmy. But when it comes to crafting she really gets into it. The complete opposite of her older sister. Next crafting with kids will be some cute Valentine’s Day cards and crafts. Stick around and see whats up next.
